By Mulengera ReportersSpeaker Anita Among says that the under pressure Bukhooli North MP Stephen Baka Mugabi (a lawyer) who knelt before her in order to mend fences with his own voters, during her political mobilization tour of Busoga, is a great senior leader Bugiri district currently has; making it clear he is due and deserves to be made a Minister.Among was speaking at the same meeting where Mugabi went on his knees and knelt from. She confessed to voters how he has done such a good job as Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament. She said it would be a mistake for Bugiri to disregard and vote out such a senior legislator at the time when he is at the prime of his politics in Parliament. She said that as the head of the institution of Parliament, she is best placed to assess and comment on the performance of individual Members of Parliament. She revealed how Mugabi had moved mountains and done such a great job in his capacity as Committee Chairman. She said Bugiri or even Busoga can’t find someone better or more suitable than Mugabi for the position of Bukhooli North MP.At the same event, Among praised other elected leaders from Busoga including Bukhooli Central MP Solomon Silwanyi who she implored the electorate not to dare lose because he is a very good leader too.She repeatedly referred to him as “my boy” and made it clear that Silwanyi knows more of her personal secrets than anyone else at that Parliament. Anita Among also referred to the fact that Silwanyi is a member of the Parliamentary Commission.Among also praised Busoga Parliamentary Group Chairman Idi Isabirye of Bunya South County in Mayuge, saying he too is an excellent leader the sub region shouldn’t lose. She further excited the gathering when she referred to Eunice Namatende who defected from FDC party and joined NRM whose leaders she said were more than ready to materially look after her and ensure that she doesn’t regret her decision. The Speaker reminisced their days in FDC and said she is the one who mobilized and convinced Namatende to come to NRM too.Among also made it clear that she wasn’t interested in having the title Mama Busoga (which many think is for her archrival Rebecca Kadaga) making it clear that she was more than comfortable merely being referred to as “the dotcom Mulamu” for Busoga since her husband Moses Magogo is a Musoga from Buyende. The Speaker of Parliament, who is campaigning to oust Kadaga from the CEC position of being second National Vice Chairperson of NRM, also called on her supporters to proudly refer to themselves as Team Mulamu as opposed to wasting time fighting for the title Mama Busoga. She referred to the transformation she has caused in her native Bukedea and vowed to replicate the same in Busoga by establishing a branch for her secondary school there, a move that naturally will amplify job creation in the Kyabazinga-land.Anita Among also referred to the powerful home she and Magogo have built in Buyende. She assured Basoga NRM delegates that she is genuine in her friendship with them and she intends to remain their close ally beyond the CEC race. She asked women groups and other leaders to prepare memoranda containing group projects they would like her to support to boost their respective SACCOs. Among promised to host and cook for them (her in-laws) a sumptuous meal at their country home in Buyende. Some incumbent councilors from the different local governments in Busoga implored Anita Among to begin throwing her weight behind them more conspicuously so as to enable them effectively counter 2026 challengers who are being backed and fronted against them by members of the Rebecca Kadaga camp.
