Joao Felix has been given the clearest indication yet he has no future at Chelsea. The Portuguese attacker was left out of the Blues’ squad for the Club World Cup alongside Axel Disasi, Raheem Sterling and Djordje Petrovic.Felix’s Chelsea career has hit a major speed bumpGettyBut the Blues have taken a further attempt to nudge Felix out the exit door as they stripped him of his squad number.Felix was handed the No.14 shirt upon signing for the Blues permanently last summer for upwards of £42.6million.However, that number now belongs to defensive midfielder Dario Essugo. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder’s move from Sporting was confirmed in March, with Chelsea impressed by his displays on loan at Spanish side Las Palmas.Chelsea also snapped up talented 17-year-old Geovany Quenda for £44m as they beat Manchester United for his signature. But the Blues will have to wait a little longer to see Quenda in action as the teenage winger will spend the 2025/26 season on loan at Sporting. As for Felix, he is desperately in need of a career reboot. After his summer arrival, Felix scored seven goals for the Blues from 20 appearances across all competitions. However, he managed just three Premier League starts. With opportunities hard to come by given the early season brilliance of Cole Palmer, Felix joined AC Milan in January until the end of the season.GettyNot even a loan move to AC Milan could rekindle the 25-year-old’s attacking flair[/caption]He began his stint at the San Siro brightly and scored a goal on debut against Roma in their Coppa Italia quarter-final clash. The 25-year-old even claimed he could see a long-term future with the Rossoneri.“From now, I’m on loan until June, we’ll see how it goes,” Felix said.“I’m liking everything. The club, the people, the infrastructure. My family received a great welcome and I want to be in a place where I feel good.“Things can change in football, but if there’s the chance to stay here, I’d like that.”However, Felix registered just two more goals and a solitary assist from the next 20 matches for Milan. The Portuguese star is now at a serious crossroads and has no squad numberGettyRegarding the loss of squad numbers, Sterling experienced similar treatment last summer. After he was initially handed the No. 17 shirt when he first arrived from Manchester City in 2022, Sterling switched to No. 7 a year later. But he lost the No. 7 shirt to Pedro Neto after the Portuguese winger joined from Wolves last August.Watch the FIFA Club World Cup for FREE on DAZN*If you click on a link in this Box Out we will earn affiliate revenueThis year’s FIFA Club World Cup will see the top teams from around the world competing to be crowned champions. Here’s how to watch every game for free on DAZN:Sign Up: Go to the DAZN website and create a free accountSelect Your Package: Choose the free standard coverageEnjoy the Action: Watch all of the FIFA Club World Cup free on DAZNFrom Harry Kane to Erling Haaland, the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup promises to be packed with the most exciting football from the world’s top talent.Sign up to DAZN now and watch all of the FIFA Club World Cup for free
