Manuela Mulondo has opened up about her 2018 experience when she spent over 30 minutes in conversation with former United States President Barack Obama.Speaking at Pastor Bugembe’s church, Mulondo reflected on the moment she was selected to be part of the Obama Foundation Leaders: Africa program. The initiative brought together 200 emerging leaders from across the continent for a summit held at the Africa Leadership Academy in South Africa. We applied for this programme, and I was the one selected from Uganda. I was selected to invite him on stage, and I had the privilege to have over 30 minutes with him and engage in conversation. At the time, Obama had just completed a visit to his father’s homeland, Kenya, before heading to South Africa to engage with Africa’s next generation of changemakers. The summit was a platform for leaders to present innovative ideas and business ventures aimed at transforming their communities.Brian Mulondo and wife face backlash after children struggle with Luganda languageAmong the standout moments of the summit was when President Obama personally recognized Mulondo’s initiative as the best business idea presented. It was surreal. To not only meet him but to have him truly listen, ask questions, and eventually select my idea as the best, that moment validated years of hard work. @victorianakizza @Manuela P.
