Samsung is rolling out a massive new update for the SmartThings mobile app. We rarely see such sizeable updates for SmartThings, but version 1.8.33.25 brings a handful of exciting new features, including a huge one that isn't mentioned in the official changelog. The listed changes and additions include a new Home Life section/survey, improved routine configurations, easier navigation of SmartThings Map View, and even a new option to share your Galaxy SmartTag's location with someone else through a temporary link. The new Home Life tool can be accessed through the menu tab in SmartThings. It acts as a survey, and once you answer a few questions, SmartThings will issue Insight Messages that highlight features that suit your home life. You will be asked how many people are living in your home, select the types of members who live with you (from babies to adults and pets), what personal hobbies or interests you enjoy at your location, and what kind of experience you are expecting from SmartThings. This SmartThings update also introduces precise routine configurations through action delay settings between routine actions and pre-execution confirmation alert options.Furthermore, thanks to this update, users can now set the Map View as the default view upon launching the SmartThings app. They can also navigate between Map View and the Home tab more easily.Last but not least, this new update allows Galaxy SmartTag users to create a temporary location link for their tags. They can share this link with anyone they want.If you have a SmartTag and want to use this feature, go to the Life tab, access Find, select your Galaxy SmartTag, tap the More button, and select Share location by link. You can set an expiration date for the link of one week, 24 hours, or 12 hours. One last surprise addition unmentioned in the changelogAside from the four major additions and changes mentioned above, this SmartThings update also includes a surprise addition (via @theordysm). Namely, once you install this update, your Now Bar and Live Notifications will support SmartThings. You can turn SmartThings in Now Bar on or off by launching the Settings app on your phone, accessing Lock screen and AOD, selecting Now Bar, and tapping View more. This massive SmartThings update to version 1.8.33.25 doesn't seem to be out in every region yet, neither through the Galaxy Store nor the Play Store. It's rolling out in phases, so you may have to wait a while longer before it reaches your phone.
