MYANMARHeavy monsoon rains and river overflows triggered widespread flooding in northern and western Myanmar, temporarily affecting more than 30,000 people across Kachin and Rakhine states in recent weeks. In Kachin, over 23,000 people sought shelter at nearly 50 evacuation sites in Myitkyina, Chipwe and Waingmaw townships, though the majority have now returned to their homes. Humanitarian partners, local organizations and host communities provided food, fortified biscuits, clean water, hygiene kits and gender-based violence services. Kachin State de facto authorities also provided affected people with cash assistance. Road access between Chipwe and Waingmaw townships remains partially disrupted due to riverbank erosion and landslides. In Rakhine, flooding in early June also affected some 7,500 people in Kyauktaw, Minbya and Mrauk-U townships, with water receding by 7 June. The floods come as conflict and displacement continue to heighten vulnerabilities in many of the affected areas.INDONESIABetween 3 - 9 June, the National Disaster Management Agency reported thirteen disaster events across nine provinces in Indonesia, affecting over 27,000 people and 6,322 houses.
