As a vital and requisite part of the nuclear medicine programme, the students get training in diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures with clinical hands-on training at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, as its collaborative partner. The students also got specialised training on high-dose therapy at HBCHRC, New Chandigarh (Mullanpur), a premier tertiary cancer care facility in the region. “This multi-centre exposure, along with the PU’s learning resource and environment, demonstrate the strength of this course and professional competency in its students,” said PU Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig. She has congratulated the outgoing batch of students, as well as the faculty and the collaborators, for securing suitable placements with attractive packages for the students. The Centre for Nuclear Medicine offers a master’s as well as a PhD program in nuclear medicine. The admissions to the master’s course are through a common entrance test (CET) conducted every year by the PU.The course is unique as the first year of the course classes are conducted at the PU, while in the second year the students are imparted practical hands-on clinical training by collaborative clinical partners. The seats for the course are limited to 10, plus two for NRI and therefore, students with high CET merit get admission.Since nuclear medicine is an emerging field growing at a fast pace, there is 100 per cent placement of students immediately after getting the master’s degree. The centre has a strong alumni base and many former students from the centre are working in nationally renowned hospitals/institutes of high repute.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Panjab Univeristy
