Of these, 22 are women.“The identification of the bodies and human remains found among the wreckage of the plane all around the scene of the accident was a huge challenge. The FSL team reached the accident site within a matter of moments,” according to the statement. It further said that as soon as the bodies began reaching Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, the FSL team immediately started the process of taking samples for DNA testing from the bodies and remains of the victims.Quoting Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Director HP Sanghvi, the statement said, “This accident was not just a ‘case’ for FSL, but a matter of hope and sympathy of countless families. That is why, all the FSL teams from Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot were immediately called to the state capital to complete the process of identification of the deceased through DNA profiling and quickly hand over the mortal remains to their families.”Since testing of DNA samples collected from unrecognisable remains is complicated, each sample of the deceased was carefully brought to the lab of FSL-Gandhinagar. DNA profiling after collecting samples of the relatives of the deceased was initiated at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. “A total of 54 DNA experts are conducting profiling-matching tests of the deceased and their relatives around the clock at both these places,” he added.“Out of the 54 DNA experts of FSL, 22 are women. Many of them, despite taking care of their children, who are less than three years old, have been working in the lab for the last four days to identify the deceased,” said the government statement. One such example is that of a DNA expert, whose mother had to undergo an urgent surgery as her heart was functioning at only 20% capacity. However, putting aside these personal difficulties, this expert has shown more commitment towards the work of DNA testing of the deceased, the statement added.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Ahmedabad plane crash
