Cairo, Egypt – UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has signed a landmark grant agreement with The Commercial International Bank (CIB) Foundation to deliver secondary and tertiary healthcare to vulnerable refugee children in Egypt. Through a generous contribution, the CIB Foundation will help ensure that 600 refugee children under the age of 18 receive life-saving medical care.This initiative is the first-ever collaboration between UNHCR and the CIB Foundation, reflecting a shared humanitarian commitment to child healthcare, especially at a time when global funding shortages have placed immense pressure on essential services for refugees.The agreement was signed in the presence of senior representatives from both organizations, including Mr. Sherif El Said, CIB Foundation Manager; Ms. Nadia Hosny, Secretary General of the Board of Trustees of the CIB Foundation; Ms. Irinie Safwat, Senior Programmes Officer; Mr. Hesham Samir, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer; Dr. Hanan Hamdan, UNHCR Representative to Egypt and to the League of Arab States, Mr. Eraj Imomberdiev, Assistant Representative Operations.“This partnership comes at a pivotal moment as severe funding cuts are threatening the continuity of essential healthcare services for refugees across the region,” said Dr. Hanan Hamdan. “Our collaboration with CIB Foundation is a powerful statement of solidarity and action. We are not only filling a critical gap, but we are affirming that the lives and dignity of refugee children are non-negotiable.”As a leader in philanthropic healthcare efforts for children, the CIB Foundation’s support will enable specialized medical interventions in cooperation with Mersal Foundation, a local healthcare partner.
