What Is Isabelle Harrison’s Ethnicity? Everything You Need to Know About the Liberty Star’s Family and Background

Wait 5 sec.

“Izzy’s versatility and commitment strengthens our post rotation,” said New York Liberty head coach as the reigning champs welcomed Isabelle Harrison. While that was surely spot on, Sandy Brondello also knew she brings something more than just on-court accomplishments. What is it? It’s the grit. That grit was put to the test multiple times. Harrison could’ve easily called it quits in 2023 when she had to undergo knee surgery. She’d already sat out two seasons during her WNBA career. Now a torn meniscus was going to bench her again, right in her first season with the Chicago Sky. But did she give up? No. Instead, she showed up and gave a solid 16.3 minutes per game. Now, as she kicks off a whole new chapter with the Liberty, it’s a great time to get to know her a little better.Where is Isabelle Harrison from? What’s her nationality?Isabelle Harrison is an American born on September 27, 1993, right in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee. And when we say she was made for sports, we’re not kidding. Harrison comes from a family so big, they could basically start their own sports league. She’s the 10th of 12 kids.  Her dad, Dennis Harrison, was an NFL defensive lineman who played for a whole decade. Her mom, Ida, ran the household, no easy feat with 12 competitive kids running around. The Harrison household was wild, in the best way possible. Seven girls, five boys – Idette, Dennis Jr. (D.J.), Danielle, David, Dianne, Daniel, Della, DeeDee, Isaiah, Ian, and Dorie. Most importantly, this wasn’t your typical “watch TV together” kind of family. This crew played everything – basketball, football, tag – you name it. They were outside all the time, competing, trash-talking, and turning every game into a battle. “For me, I always wanted to beat them,” Isabelle once said. “And I always wanted to impress them, so when my dad did get the chance to come to a game or my sibling did get a chance to come to a game, I just wanted to show off.” It kind of explains everything. That’s the core of Izzy’s hustle. Even when things got rough – two injuries and even an autoimmune illness – she just kept going. Some of her siblings carved their own paths in sports too. D.J. played professional basketball overseas. David was a first-round NBA Draft pick back in 2004. DeeDee rocked the volleyball court at the University of Tennessee. And Dorie, the baby of the family, followed Isabelle’s lead into college basketball at Lipscomb and Kentucky. Back to Izzy, she kicked off her hoops journey at Hillsboro High School in Nashville, where she played both basketball and volleyball. What is Isabelle Harrison’s ethnicity and religion? While fans are often curious about players’ backgrounds, there’s currently no public information about Isabelle Harrison’s ethnicity or religion. Which college did Isabelle Harrison attend?Harrison took her talents to the University of Tennessee and played for the Lady Vols from 2011 to 2015. Over her four years, she appeared in 112 games, dropped over 1,000 points, and became just the 39th player in program history to hit that milestone. But her journey wasn’t all smooth.  Sadly, her senior year got cut short due to a torn ACL. Still, she managed to average 12.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game that season. She wrapped up her college years averaging 9.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and shot over 50% from the field. No wonder the Phoenix Mercury snatched her up as the 12th overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft. But her rookie year was all about recovery, so she didn’t suit up until 2016. When she finally debuted, she played 26 games as a reserve, putting up 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. But then came the breakout. In 2017, she was traded to the San Antonio Stars and started 33 out of 34 games.  And she didn’t stop there. From 2019 to 2022, Harrison was a key piece for the Dallas Wings, averaging 9.0 points and 5.2 rebounds. A solid, dependable forward who could always be counted on. Then came the Chicago chapter in 2023. Things got a little bumpy again – knee injury, surgery, the works – but she still found ways to contribute. Now, she’s rocking with the Liberty, alongside her girlfriend, Natasha Cloud.  View this post on Instagram A post shared by New York Liberty (@nyliberty)But you know through it all what hasn’t changed? Her biggest fan: her dad. After every game, Dennis Harrison is right there on the courtside. He waits for her to cool down and shower, then grabs her bag, tosses it in the car, and drives her home.Isabelle Harrison may be in her eighth season and 31 now, but to her dad, she’ll always be his little girl who made him proud. Isn’t that the sweetest part of her story? The post What Is Isabelle Harrison’s Ethnicity?
