The PMRDA metro rail project has received four metro rails so far as part of the projectIn good news for citizens commuting daily to Rajiv Gandhi Information Technology Park in Hinjewadi from Pune, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) successfully completed the first trial run for a part of its route from Maan-Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar.The deadline for the already delayed Metro line three in Pune from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar is March 2026. The work was first delayed due to a land acquisition issue and technical hurdles. The 23.3 km route is much awaited due to road traffic turning worse by the day, exacerbating commuting woes.“The metro work of Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar is 87 per cent complete. The first trial run of it was successfully completed from Mann depot to PMR 4 station,” said a PMRDA official.The metro Line 3 from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar will have 23 stations in all and reduce travel time for those commuting from city to Hinjewadi for work. The Infotech Park employs over lakh people.The Metro Line 3 is the first public-private partnership model of the Metro rail in India and is being developed through a joint venture of TATA and Siemens under the name Pune IT City Metro rail Ltd.
