Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited the Chamundeshwari temple atop the Chamundi Hills on the auspicious occasion of Ashada Shukravara in Mysuru on Friday.Mr. Shivakumar, who was accompanied by his wife during the visit, said that he believed in prayers bearing fruit more than efforts. His trip to the Chamundeshwari temple comes close on the heels of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s assertion that he will helm the Congress government for a full five-year term amid a revived debate over a change of leadership in the State. When asked if the days of his prayers bearing fruit have come nearer, Mr. Shivakumar said that he was confident that his prayers will not go in vain even if his efforts fail. “I have prayed for whatever I want”, he said. However, when questioned if he was out of the race for the post of Chief Minister in the State in the wake of Mr. Siddaramaiah’s assertion, the Deputy Chief Minister refused to be drawn into a discussion on the subject. “I have not come here to discuss politics,” he said. However, Mr. Shivakumar pointed out Congress president M. Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement to the partymen, and said, “Let us follow whatever he has said and work in a united manner.”Published - July 04, 2025 06:28 pm IST
