Participants donating blood during the I&M Bank blood donation drive on Thursday.I&M Bank Uganda on Thursday conducted two blood donation drives, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, aimed at further boosting the national blood bank capacity.The drives, done in partnership with Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS), saw bank staff and members of the public take part in the donation, at the bank’s headquarters at Kingdom Kampala, and at the Kololo Branch.A total of 33 units of blood were collected, with 21 units collected at the Kololo branch, and 12 units from Kingdom Kampala.Annette Nakiyaga, the bank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, said that the blood donation drive is part of the bank’s commitment to giving back to the community, as well as a way to support critical healthcare needs.“Donating blood is a simple yet powerful act that saves lives and offers hope in critical moments. As I&M Bank, we’re committed to giving back in ways that truly matter. Holding blood donation drives is one way we can make a real difference in people’s lives,” said Nakiyaga.“Blood is vital in saving victims of accidents, emergencies, and other serious conditions. Through this drive, we stand for compassion, community, and the power to help someone see tomorrow,” she added.A few months back, I&M Bank conducted complimentary eye check-ups as part of its effort to support the health sector and improve the well-being of the community.Earlier this year, the bank partnered with the Kabaka Foundation for the Tubeere Balamu Community Health Camp, where thousands of people received free health education, medical check-ups, treatment, and had the opportunity to donate blood.
