Reminds me of a young mom I used to work with. She already had three kids and, although we lived in ski country, her youngest (about 5 years old) didn't even have a coat. So one day I took her daughter shopping - just to Walmart - and bought her the nicest jacket they had (I let her choose from the best ones). I heard later than the mother tried to return the jacket and get the child a cheaper one so she could pocket the difference in cash, but the child refused to part with it.
