Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC) of being partly responsible for the war between Israel and Iran because they have been complicit in the genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza. The Venezuelan head of state made the statement this Monday, June 16, during the broadcast of Con Maduro+, saying that if there had been firm and true justice from the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, “we would have avoided bombings and we would have avoided this war.”He described as “unacceptable and distressing” the silence of governments and international institutions in the face of the genocide Israel is committing.“This war would have been avoided if there was international justice, commented the president. “If the Criminal Court of Justice and the International Court of Justice, which are two different courts, had not dedicated themselves to obeying the mandates of Washington, London, Paris, and Brussels, things would be different, and with justice there would be peace. Only justice and respect for international law will bring us peace.”The Venezuelan leader referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a genocidal maniac. “Netanyahu must be stopped before it is too late,” he warned.“The criminal attacks by the Zionist state led by Netanyahu against the Palestinian people, against the people of Lebanon, against the people of Syria, against the people of Yemen, and against the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran have broken all the standards of international law,” he said. They intend to dominate the world with warPresident Maduro predicted that the new world will triumph over those who seek to dominate it with wars, referring to Israel’s attacks against Iran. He noted that they seek to dominate the world with bombs. He emphasized that the world wants peace with justice and freedom.“This week we have seen events that have unleashed another war,” said President Maduro. “The world that seeks to be dominated by bombs is resisting. The new world that seeks peace, with justice and freedom, will win under any circumstances.”Venezuela supports Iran from the heartPresident Maduro emphasized that he does not believe humanity would support a nuclear war, referring to Israel’s recent attack on Iran: “We wholeheartedly support Iran… the people of Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Yemen… humanity has said ‘enough’ to imperialist wars.”President Maduro recalled that Venezuela is striving to build a pluricentric and multipolar world and that while these events unfold, “from Venezuela, we advocate for peace.”Iran is within its legitimate rightsThe Venezuelan president said that Iran has the legitimate right to defend itself, referring to the possibility of Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz, which would block 35% of the world’s maritime oil supply, as part of the escalation of attacks against the nation.Since the early hours of June 13, when Israel launched its surprise attack on Iran, the two nations have been exchanging bombardments.Iran launched a large-scale military operation against Israeli territory named Operation True Promise III, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed. The attack came just hours after Israel carried out a surprise military assault on Iranian facilities.According to a statement from the public relations office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran launched dozens of missiles toward the occupied territories. Impacts were reported on strategic targets within the Zionist colony. The operation was characterized by geographic precision. The first wave targeted Tel Aviv. The second phase focused on Haifa and northern occupied Palestine, while the third wave again hit southern occupied Palestine and Tel Aviv.Among the significant targets was the Nevatim airbase, where the Israeli Air Force maintains its F-35 fighter jets. This facility received direct hits from Iranian ballistic missiles. The IRGC confirmed the success of Operation True Promise III, stating its aerospace force’s missile and drone units attacked military centers and airbases that were the source of the criminal attack against Iran.Russia, China, and numerous countries, including Venezuela, have condemned the Israeli offensive, calling it a serious violation of international law and the UN Charter. President Maduro said that Venezuela relies on the mediation of global powers to stem the escalation. “The current global situation leads us to believe that countries like Russia or China, with strong and balanced leadership, could bring about a ceasefire, negotiation, and a dignified agreement between Iran and Israel,” noted President Maduro.Following Blatant Threats, ‘Israel’ Bombs Iran’s State BroadcasterThe supremacists of yesterday are the supremacists of todayThe president emphasized that the ideology behind this war is inherited from the Nazis and fascists, from the supremacists of yesterday to the supremacists of today who want to impose fear; however, humanity has had enough.“They let the genocide in Gaza continue, and yet every day they kill 100 Palestinians there, including 60 children, women, and the elderly,” said President Maduro. “They destroyed 80% or more of the buildings and homes, schools, mosques, churches, hospitals—they destroyed everything [in Gaza].”He reiterated that the Western world, including European and US imperialist elites, supported the destruction in Gaza, a genocide that was broadcast live on social media.“No more imperialist wars,” said President Maduro. “No more colonialist models. No more supremacist models. We advocate for peace.”  (Alba Ciudad) by Ana Perdigón with Orinoco Tribune contentTranslation: Orinoco TribuneOT/JRE/SL
