‘Trump is not a king’: Marjorie Taylor Greene insists she has ‘critical thinking’ now that Trump discarded her for having ‘opinions’

Wait 5 sec.

Sure, Iran is being bombed to bits and hundreds of civilians are dead, but let’s not forget the real victim in all this: Marjorie Taylor Greene. As a fierce “America First” advocate and one of Donald Trump’s greatest cheerleaders, she’s had a rough weekend. Greene swallowed Trump’s election pledge that he was opposed to wasting American lives and money in pointless wars in the Middle East, so she’s heartbroken that he’s just taken the nation into a whole new conflict. Now, in an impassioned and very long post on X (which makes me long for the days of the 280-character limit), Greene has set out her thinking in full: My thoughts on bombing Iran.I don’t know anyone in America who has been the victim of a crime or killed by Iran, but I know many people who have been victims of crime committed by criminal illegal aliens or MURDERED by Cartel and Chinese fentanyl/drugs. Almost everyone in our…— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (@RepMTG) June 22, 2025 The most notable parts are when she summarizes the America First isolationist mindset: I’ve watched our country go to war in foreign lands for foreign causes on behalf of foreign interests for as long as I can remember. I was in 10th grade when Desert Storm started and my father before me was sent to Vietnam, another senseless foreign war. America is $37 TRILLION in debt and all of these foreign wars have cost Americans TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS of dollars that never benefited any American. American troops have been killed and forever torn apart physically and mentally for regime change, foreign wars, and for military industrial base profits. I’m sick of it.” But also underlines that even though Trump has broken his campaign promise and ignored her pleas for peace, she’s still as MAGA as it comes: “I can also support President Trump and his great administration on many of the great things they are doing while disagreeing on bombing Iran and getting involved in a hot war that Israel started. That’s not disloyalty. Critical thinking and having my own opinions is the most American thing ever.” Greene is, of course, absolutely right about all of this. Trump allowing Israel to manipulate them into a new war in the Middle East is a huge mistake. The United States is effectively Israel’s burly henchman, with Netanyahu hiding behind American military might as he hopes Trump will help him win the war he needlessly started. See you at the protests, Marge! All that said, if Greene truly believes that disagreement on foreign policy, critical thinking about what America and Israel are doing, and that “having my own opinions is the most American thing ever” we assume she’ll be the biggest crusader for the rights of political prisoners like Mahmoud Khalil. Pro-Palestinian protesters have been loudly “having their own opinions” about Trump and Netanyahu since the inauguration, and that’s seen them snatched from their homes by ICE and tossed into filthy detention centers in the deep South. So, how does Greene feel about that? Protesters have OCCUPIED Trump TOWER in NYC chanting "Free Mahmoud, Free them All!"I know the owner of that building and he will definitely be pressing charges.FAFO. pic.twitter.com/nGlUSeaJ9D— Marjorie Taylor Greene (@mtgreenee) March 13, 2025 Oh well, I guess it really is one rule for some and another for the rest! Maybe now that Greene is on the outs with Trump and the White House inner circle her politics will continue to develop as she realizes – doubtless to her horror – that she increasingly has more in common with the protestors she’s been demanding be locked and up and deported than with the rest of her war-crazed party. Then again, if she continues being an anti-war crusader, she may be about to experience the ugly and vindictive side of the Trump regime first-hand.
