After more than three decades as a franchise owner, Glen Taylor is officially stepping down. The $1.5 billion sale of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx to Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez has finally received unanimous approval from the NBA Board of Governors, capping off a years-long process that included late payments, arbitration, and some public tension.Despite the rollercoaster, Taylor appears at peace with the outcome. Sitting beside his wife Becky at a recent Lynx game, the 83-year-old told reporters, “I’m OK with it. I’m ready.” But not everything is changing. With a grin, Taylor added, “We’ll still have our tickets, for the Timberwolves — and the Lynx.”The new owners, Lore and Rodriguez, will take over as co-chairmen. Rodriguez, now governor of the Lynx and alternate for the Wolves, said, “I know what it takes to be a champion, and I’m ready to bring that same commitment and drive to create a winning culture in Minnesota.”Taylor bought the Wolves in 1994 to keep them from moving to New Orleans and later added the Lynx in 1998. In a farewell message, Taylor and Becky thanked fans and staff, writing, “Though we are stepping away as owners… we will always be fans, cheering from our seats.”While ownership changes, the Taylors’ presence at courtside—and their love for Minnesota basketball—remains.(This is a building story…)The post Alex Rodriguez’s $1.5B Timberwolves Win Changes All but One Thing for Glen Taylor appeared first on EssentiallySports.
