Bitter and Blue End of Season Awards - Signing of the Season

Wait 5 sec.

Our writers discuss the best player brought into the club in the past 12 months Welcome to the penultimate part of the Bitter and Blue End of Season Awards series! And in this part, we’re discussing signing of the season. The Blues signed six players last season, with an additional four so far leading into the FIFA Club World Cup.Though even with ten players to choose from, it seems our team have come to a unanimous decision...SaulIt has to be Omar Marmoush does it not? Instant impact, which is difficult and rare under Pep Guardiola, where he really changed the narrative for City and even had some winners in there. He also had the best goal of the season, and really proved he belonged. Now with a full summer under Pep, who knows how far he can improve and make City once again genuine title contenders.Saul’s pick - Omar Marmoush Photo by Jose Breton/Pics Action/NurPhoto via Getty Images WillAllow me to try and make a case for a few of the others:Abdukodir Khusanov and Savinho have the potential to be important starting players over the next few years. Both are good players; yes, they have weaknesses in their game, but I expect them both to develop across this season.Nico Gonzalez is everything you can ask for from a Rodri backup. Good attitude, comfortable with the ball, aggressive in duels. He’ll be around for the next few years too you’d expect.Vitor Reis is raw, but talented nonetheless, and could easily make it. All three of Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Tijjani Reijnders will contribute to trophies during their City careers. And any of these players would have to do very, very well to surpass Ilkay Gundogan’s legendary status at the club. But come on. The player to have made the most difference this season (and will contribute consistently for the next four to five years) is Marmoush. Will’s pick - Omar Marmoush Photo by Alex Livesey - Danehouse/Getty Images PeteOh that would have to be Marmoush. This guy has taken to life at City so well and his missed penalty in the cup final proved that he had truly arrived - you’re not a true blue until you’ve missed a vital penalty! But seriously, it’s like he’s been there for a while and I’m expecting great things from him next season.Pete’s pick - Omar Marmoush Photo by Stu Forster/Getty Images ConclusionWell done Omar! He’s won with the first unanimous vote of the season - his second award, as he got the most votes for goal of the season too. Here are everyone’s answers so far going into the final article of the series:Saul: Player of the Season - Erling HaalandGoal of the Season - Omar Marmoush vs Bournemouth (H)Game of the Season - Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Manchester CitySigning of the Season - Omar MarmoushWill: Player of the Season - Josko GvardiolGoal of the Season - Omar Marmoush vs Bournemouth (H)Game of the Season - Manchester City 4-0 Newcastle UnitedSigning of the Season - Omar MarmoushDillon: Player of the Season - N/AGoal of the Season - Matheus Nunes vs Aston Villa (H)Game of the Season - N/ASigning of the Season - N/APete: Player of the Season - Nico O’ReillyGoal of the Season - Jess Park vs Arsenal (A)Game of the Season - Manchester City 2-0 BarcelonaSigning of the Season - Omar Marmoush
