Ex-MLB Prez Lashes Out at Yankees Critics as Aaron Boone Clings to Hope Amid Embarrassing Slump

Wait 5 sec.

Remember how the Yankees opened their 2025 season? They came out swinging, sweeping the Brewers in style and putting up a staggering 36 runs in that series alone. It felt like they were on a mission, one that ended just short last season. But lately, the momentum has shifted, and not in the way anyone in the Bronx hoped. The Yanks are suddenly making headlines for all the wrong reasons.Slipping into a slump and setting stats they’d rather forget, the Yankees are at crossroads. But, this is the Yankees we’re talking about. If there’s one thing they don’t do, it’s fade away quietly. The Yanks are currently on a six-game losing streak, their first since 2023. Surprised? Well, there is more. They were shut out in three consecutive games before their latest 3–2 loss to the Angels- something that hasn’t happened since 2016. Even though Jazz Chisholm Jr. helped them snap a 30-inning scoreless streak, the cracks are only widening. They’ve scored only six runs in the past six games, which is pretty unheard of for a team like the Yankees. But hey, this is baseball; twists are part of the game. For the team’s relief, former Marlins president has stepped in to support. “This happens,” said David Samson on his show Nothing Personal with David Samson. He didn’t forget to call out the critics either.“Now there was somebody, Coca, who before the season said the Yankees are actually not that good, and the Yankees are going to have problems, and they may not even make the playoffs. I don’t remember the daft fool who said that, but what I do remember is that these sorts of periods during the season—every team, every season, every fan and media has the same reaction: total and unadulterated panic,” he added.Samson is right, when a team like the mighty Yankees slips into a slump this ugly, panic is inevitable. But if you’re a Yankee player, there’s no room to panic-not in the middle of such a promising season. They have to find a way to push back, and their manager, Aaron Boone, is confident they will.“We just got to break through now like we’re capable of offensively,” he said after the loss to the Angels. “When we’re not scoring a lot of runs, we’ve got to execute at the highest level on the little things. And we haven’t done that this week—a handful of times—when we had some opportunities.” But Boone must realize exactly what kind of hole they’re in.The team is actively trying to address the issues and stage a strategic comeback. The former MVPs are clearly frustrated over the losing streak and are now searching for ways to overcome it. But what’s concerning is that even Judge’s bat, the team’s most reliable weapon, has gone cold.Aaron Judge admits team’s strugglesThe two-time MVP is fully aware of the team’s situation. After an embarrassing sweep against their biggest rivals, the Red Sox still haven’t found their footing. And now, their strongest warrior’s usual .400 bat has cooled off a bit. The captain knows they may not be good enough at the moment, but at this stage of the season, there’s no time to sit back.“That’s baseball,” Judge said after the 3–2 loss to the Angels, while speaking to MLB.com’s Jorge Castillo. “We know what we signed up for. You’re going to play 162. You’re going to hit a little rut like this, but you can’t give up. You can’t mope about it. You just got to show up the next day and be ready to play.”That’s right. Maybe they went a little passive at some point. But now, all they can do is show up and be ready to hit.Even though Judge went just 3-for-24 over the past week with 15 strikeouts, he still leads the season with a .366 batting average and a 1.192 OPS. All he can hope now is that he can reignite that bat in time to avoid another embarrassing sweep as they face the Angels on Thursday. The Yankees are still leading the AL East with a 42–31 record, but with the Tampa Bay Rays just 1.5 games behind, they’ve got to be careful. Will the Bronx Bombers find their way back? Well, if they want another shot at October glory, they better do.The post Ex-MLB Prez Lashes Out at Yankees Critics as Aaron Boone Clings to Hope Amid Embarrassing Slump appeared first on EssentiallySports.
