Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami, seer of Lingayat Panchamasali Peetha at Kudalasangama, has said that the Panchamasali agitation for inclusion under 2A category would resume and in this regard a ‘sankalpa sabhe’ (resolve meeting) had been organised at Ulavi in Uttara Kannada district on June 23.Speaking to presspersons in Belagavi on Saturday, the seer said that on June 24 mass worshipping of ‘ishtalinga’ would be held at Ulavi and the participants would subsequently deliberate upon how to take forward the agitation and mobilise the people for the mass movement.“We will make a sankalpa (resolve) for the second time and launch the agitation. We will also deliberate upon where to start the agitation and will not stop the movement until we receive the order copy from the government,” he said. The seer said that they were pained by the remarks of the Chief Minister on the Panchamasali agitation and that’s why they were going to the people again.Making a veiled attack at the ‘double standards’ of legislators and Ministers from the Panchamasali community, the seer said that they had launched the agitation because of the trust of the people.Published - June 22, 2025 12:59 am IST
