Disneyland Resort is cracking down on a popular guest behavior, enforcing a controversial new restriction. Disneyland Park guests can no longer claim parade viewing spots more than two hours early, and Disney cast members are patrolling Main Street, U.S.A., to force anyone waiting on the curb early to follow the rules. On May 16, the Disneyland70 celebrations began at Disneyland Resort, bringing new and returning entertainment offerings to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. One of the most popular additions is the returning Paint the Night electrical parade, which was extremely popular among guests during the 60th-anniversary celebrations from 2015 to 2017.Credit: Jeremy Wong, FlickrAfter almost a decade away from Disneyland Resort, Paint the Night is drawing thousands of spectators nightly. Disneyland Park guests have lined up on Main Street, U.S.A., hours in advance to claim the perfect spot. Though it might work out for some visitors, others have complained that it makes the area too crowded and gives Magic Key holders a leg up. After all, a local can wait a few hours in one spot, but a once-in-a-lifetime visitor might not want to sacrifice other attractions during an already short, expensive vacation.Over the last few weeks, rumors have swirled among Disney Parks fans about new unofficial parade rules. Now, it seems that Disney cast members are officially enforcing the policy: guests must wait until two hours before Paint the Night to sit down on the curb on Main Street, U.S.A.Credit: DisneyOn Monday, TikTok user @magicallymckenna posted this video after Disney cast members forced her and several other guests waiting for Paint the Night to stand up. She expressed confusion about the new rules, arguing that she and her fellow Disney Park guests could just stand there for ten minutes until the parade was officially two hours away. @magicallymckenna Don’t worry, you can just stand #disney #disneyfyp #fyp #disneyland #disneylandcalifornia #distok #distokfam #disneyadult #disneytiktok #disneyparks #disneytrip #disneyland70thanniversary ♬ original sound – McKenna Bell “So it appears Disney is actually cracking down on the two-hour camp-out time for the parade,” the Disney Park guest said. “…I had just sat down on the curb at 6:40, and the parade starts at 8:50, so it’s ten minutes early, and they asked me to stand.”“I don’t know if this helps or not because now there’s just a crowd of people standing here, and then at 6:50, we’ll all sit down,” she continued. “But, you know. Whatever works.”Disney cast members didn’t prohibit guests from standing on the curb on Main Street, U.S.A.Credit: Disney“Don’t worry, you can just stand,” she added in the video’s caption. Many commenters defended the policy, arguing that it made the parade-viewing experience more fair for everyone.“This is why visiting Disneyland from out of town sucks,” @heyitsthatguyjosh commented. “Locals will camp hours and hours for parades/fireworks meaning you have to give up half your day or not see them at all.”Credit: HarshLight, Flickr“People are creating safety hazards in the walkways,” said @addie_1013.Still, some Disney Parks fans were angry about the new rules.“I paid my ticket,” @aubreezuniga argued. “If I want to sit on the mainstream curb ALL DAY that should be my own prerogative.”Do you agree with the rules about waiting to claim a spot for Disney parades?
