Citizens of the United States of America are truly blessed. After a procession of drooling ignoramuses barely able to tie their own shoes, the nation finally has a straight-up brain genius sitting in the Oval Office, and he’s going to solve all our problems. God bless the famed intelligence and cunning of Donald J. Trump! Or at least, that’s the message out of the White House this morning. The Trump administration closed out yesterday by trumpeting that they’d forced Israel and Iran into a ceasefire, with Trump insisting that this will be known as the “12-day war”. The ink was barely dry on his statement when Israel broke Trump’s ceasefire and launched more missiles at Iran, so it remains to be seen just how well that pronouncement will age. Let’s just say there are shades of Bush proudly posing in front of the “Mission Accomplished” banner. Anyhow, in a truly moronic bit of brown-nosing, JD Vance is now insisting the reason this conflict in the Middle East isn’t like the other ones that have bogged down American forces for years on end and killed millions is because “back then we had dumb presidents”. Vance: I empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East. I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then we had dumb presidents pic.twitter.com/zv1NfR580J— Acyn (@Acyn) June 22, 2025 Brain genius Donald Trump Well, I don’t see anybody going to bat with George W. Bush these days, so maybe he has a point that some former leaders may have been a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic, but saying we should be confident this conflict isn’t going to turn into a total disaster because of the supreme intelligence of Donald Trump should send chills up your spine. Even if his intentions were for a single, surgical strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Trump is now facing the classic Pringles dilemma: once you pop, you can’t stop. Netanyahu now knows that he can manipulate Trump into doing whatever he wants while giving nothing in exchange, so expect him to continually plead with, beg, and scold Trump until there’s a steady stream of coffins draped in the flag being flown back to Arlington. All that said, if Trump really has brokered a ceasefire to shut down this war before it spills over into a wider regional conflict, he does deserve some kudos. But, given that Israel is literally violating it right this second by continuing to blast Iranian civilians with US-provided missiles, I’m betting that kudos isn’t coming anytime soon.
