Hegde has been summoned for questioning on Wednesday, even as the other two accused have been arrested and granted bail.Anantkumar Hegde, his gunman Sridhar and car driver Mahesh have been named in the FIR registered by the Dabaspet police following a complaint lodged by Saif Khan. Anantkumar Hegde’s associates allegedly assaulted Khan, who was returning from a function with his family in an Innova. According to the police, the confrontation began after Khan’s car overtook Hegde’s Mahindra XUV multiple times during their journey.“The overtake game unfolded twice or thrice, and Hegde’s driver honked at Khan’s car, but the latter didn’t notice and kept driving,” said a police officer. The situation escalated when Hegde’s driver honked and intercepted Khan’s vehicle near Hale Nijagala in Bengaluru rural district.“The driver and gunman stormed out of the car and started assaulting Khan,” the officer said.The attack was severe enough that Khan lost two or three teeth during the assault, according to the police.In his complaint, Khan alleged the BJP leader instigated the attack and that some other people had provoked the assailants by identifying him as a “Muslim”.
