Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor, initiated the Amarnath Yatra by flagging off the first group of 4,500 pilgrims. The yatra commenced on July 3. Sinha expressed hope for a historic and peaceful pilgrimage. He noted the devotees' unwavering faith despite terror incidents. Security arrangements were made on Pahalgam and Baltal routes.
