Taking note of AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala camping in Bengaluru to meet Congress MLAs, the Opposition BJP has claimed that he is preparing the ground for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah relinquishing the post. The BJP maintained that the change of Chief Minister was certain, either in October or November, even as Mr. Siddarmaiah declared on Wednesday that he would complete his full term.BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra, addressing a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, appealed to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to take note of horse trading that he predicted would ensue, while observing that the competition for the Chief Ministerial post had increased in the party.Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok observed that change of Chief Minister would definitely take place in October or November.Alleging that Mr. Siddaramaiah was repeatedly claiming that he would complete the full term as Chief Minister out of insecurity, as Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was sending signals that he would seize power from him, Mr. Ashok urged the Congress high command to clarify if Mr. Siddaramaiah would indeed complete the full term.He expressed concern that MLAs were frustrated and people had lost confidence in the government as development works had come to a standstill due to lack of funds. Both the leaders took exception to Minister Priyank Kharge’s statement on banning the RSS if the Congress came to power at the Centre. Mr. Vijayendra ridiculed that even Mr. Priyank Kharge’s father and AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, or other top leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi, did not believe that the Congress would come to power at the Centre.Published - July 02, 2025 11:00 pm IST
