Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo vowed that young Guyanese will soon benefit from universal secondary education, supported by modern learning tools expected to provide them with world-class education.“I’m so pleased now that, because of the investments made over the years (such as) building more secondary schools, incentivising private education…. that now, all of the students who took the National Grade Six Assessment this year, by the time they are ready to write the CXC, whether they got over 50% or less than 50%, they will all go on to write the CXC,” Jagdeo said at his weekly press conference. He posited that the government, over the next few years, will ensure that Guyana has universal secondary education.Universal secondary education, essentially, translates to all secondary school-aged persons having access to the schooling appropriate to their age.In Guyana, Jagdeo explained, investments are being made to ensure that students in all regions have adequate secondary schools to attend. And at the end of the secondary school education, all those students should be able to write the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, offered by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).“We are giving every child the opportunity to succeed,” he said. The goal of universal secondary education has been one that the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) has been assiduously working towards, the Vice President said further. The construction of new schools is one venture funded heavily to help achieve this goal.Beyond this, Jagdeo emphasised that the country’s education system will be revolutionised with artificial intelligence (AI) so that students can learn better through individualised learning. The post Universal secondary education will be achieved soon – Jagdeo appeared first on News Room Guyana.
