(File)The Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, on Thursday declared that it would waive off the tuition fees of the 14 students who were injured after an Air India plane crashed into the hostel mess of the B J Medical College on June 12. Besides, the fees already submitted will be reimbursed to the injured students.This comes a day after the Junior Doctors’ Association on Wednesday requested the university authorities to waive off the fees. Citing a “serious impact” on their physical and mental health along with financial pressure, the association requested to waive off the fees of medical students seriously injured in the plane crash. “…it is our request from the university authorities that the educational fees of the affected students be waived off. This will be a source of support for the students and their families at this time,” the association had stated in its request.Dhaval Gamit, the president of the association, told The Indian Express: “Based on our request, the university has announced to waive off the tuition fee of 14 injured students, studying in MBBS and MD courses.
