Commuters on two-wheelers were seen struggling to pull their vehicles through the water.According to reports, a large tree was uprooted on the road between Sector 22 and Sector 23 in Chandigarh, causing damage to the walls of nearby government houses. In Sector 38, water entered houses.Rajesh, a resident of Sector 38 West, said significant waterlogging has occurred on the city’s internal roads, resulting in water entering several houses in the area.Waterlogging was reported for several hours in the underpass near the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking workshop. As a result, the authorities had to block the route to prevent any accidents. A car was reported to have become submerged under the railway underbridge.Traffic jams were reported on the roads from Tribune Chowk to Zirakpur and from Zirakpur to Chandigarh.Ranjodh Singh, who was travelling from Zirakpur to the industrial area, said heavy rain and waterlogging on the roads caused the traffic to move very slowly towards Chandigarh. These measures will remain in effect from June 20 to September 30 to ensure a swift and effective response to rain-related incidents.Each of the 18 specially trained teams consists of officials from essential departments, including public health, building and roads, horticulture, electricity, and fire.
