‘Dallas was rigged’ – Adam Silver gets met with chorus of boos at the NBA Draft as fans make feelings heard

Wait 5 sec.

No love lost for the commissioner.NBA commissioner Adam Silver was greeted at the 2025 NBA Draft by a loud array of boos as he walked out on stage to kick off the event.Silver has been under fire the last few yearsGettyWhen he circled back to announce Cooper Flagg to the Dallas Mavericks moments later, he was once again met with a loud chorus of boos. The draft is taking place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. And the crowd inside the building doesn’t exactly seem to be the biggest Silver fans. The ESPN microphone even caught a fan blurting out, “Dallas was rigged!” as Silver made his way out. This isn’t the first year Silver has heard the boos, as it seems to be a tradition that started a long time ago.The late David Stern, who was the previous commissioner before Silver, was booed routinely. He would even joke with the crowd at times to amp it up.“The boo is an American sign of respect,” Stern once said. The boos that Stern would receive, versus what Silver currently gets, aren’t very comparable, as fans would hammer Stern much louder. It just seems to be part of the job as commissioner of a professional sports league.Silver has been in his role since 2014GettyUnlike the fans, the players seem to like SilverGettyJust ask Roger Goodell. The NFL commissioner has dealt with the negativity and boos for years and years.Silver has done a fine job as commissioner but has definitely come under fire over the last few seasons due to various decisions or a lack thereof. He has been known universally as a “player’s commissioner,” where he tends to take the side of his players and have their backs when it comes to on and off the court situations that arise.Fans, however, seem to be indifferent.“Adam Silver got booed by the crowd when he walked out at the NBA Draft.
