All eyes were on Bryce James in his recent high school game.The son of legendary NBA player LeBron James had a crunch game against St. John Bosco as he faced off against American’s number one ranked point guard, Brandon McCoy Jr.Bryce James is currently playing for Sierra Canyon in Inglewood, CaliforniaGETTYWith Bronny and LeBron James in attendance amongst a sold out crowd, the pressure was on.Although, in a tight match, it would be the Bosco who would win with the youngest James unable to lead his team to victory.McCoy Jr, Christian Collins and Elzie Harrington combined for 44 points in St John Bosco’s 60-55 win at home over Sierra Canyon in the CIF Southern Section Open Division playoffs.“I feel like it got us really hype and it gave us confidence that we were going to win this game,” Collins said. “We knew from the start we were going to win this game but that really sealed it all.”McCoy, who is widely rated as the best point guard of his age group in the country, had a double with 16 pints and 10 rebound.“We played a great team but we’re also a great team so we pulled it out in the end,” McCoy said.With the game tied up, McCoy’s back-to-back dunks put Bosco up 35-31 early in the third quarter.“I think it gave us a lot of energy,” McCoy said. “When we’re hype, I think nobody is stopping us in the country, so me or anybody bringing a dunk, energy, that just means a lot to our team.”Despite the dunks, the game would end up making rounds on social media for other reasons as there was a tense moment between James and McCoy at one point in the first half.@BallislifeBryce James was left one-on-one with the point guard before fouling him[/caption]Bryce is LeBron James’ youngest sonGETTYJames received a technical foul for fouling McCoy quite harshly as he went to make a basket.When the Bosco player fell on the floor, he was quick to look for James as he looked fairly aggravated but quickly calmed down.It was McCoy who had the better ending anyway as this game became a revenge win over Sierra Canyon, who beat them in the Open Division playoffs last season.Footage of the exchange on social media, saw fans quickly offer their reaction.“Smart to walk away after such a bad foul,” one fan posted on X.“Both players handled it well and avoided a bad rep,” another fan said. James will be focused on enjoying a strong end to his high school season and career.The four-star prospect has Arizona State waiting for him after rejecting offers from Ohio State and Duquesne.His older brother Bronny also played in the NCAA last year, spending one season with USC in 2023-24 but a cardiac arrested limited him to just six starts.Nevertheless, the 20-year-old was selected by the Lakers in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft to team him up with his iconic father.Bronny and LeBron became the first active father-son duo to suit up in the NBA, adding yet more history to The King’s legacy.
