Eight people have been arrested in connection with a major drug heist at the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) compound last Sunday.Officials conducted multiple raids, resulting in several arrests and the seizure of significant amounts of cannabis resin, Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa told the media this evening.85 of 226 kilograms of cannabis resin were recovered while eight men were arrested.At around 1am, officers raided an apartment in Żebbuġ, arresting four men aged 24, 25, 27, and 29. Shortly after, they discovered 36kg of cannabis resin in a nearby garage. Later that morning, at approximately 7.45am, a 23-year-old man was arrested in Marsa, with police subsequently seizing 34kg of cannabis resin from a garage in Żabbar linked to him.The operation continued at 9:40am when a 34-year-old man was apprehended in Qormi. Following his arrest, officers uncovered 10kg of cannabis resin hidden in a field in San Ġwann. By 12:45pm, police had intercepted two vehicles in Qormi and Pietà, leading to the arrests of two men aged 25 and 23. Further searches in a Pietà residence resulted in the seizure of 5kg of cannabis resin, along with cannabis grass and cocaine unrelated to a weekend theft case.More details to follow•
