I’m the athletic ‘freak’ who dominated the NFL combine with unbelievable jumping ability

Wait 5 sec.

The NFL Combine is all about rising above the best college prospects in the country.Dallas Turner did just that in 2024, putting up ridiculous numbers that had fans praising him as a “freak” two months before the NFL Draft.Dallas Turner lit up social media and quickly went viral with his freak athleticismTurner, an edge rusher from Alabama, burned through the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. The highly promising junior defender also recorded 40.5 inches in the vertical jump and 10.7 inches in the broad jump.Entering the Combine, Turner was burning up mock drafts.ESPN had him at No. 8 overall going to the Atlanta Falcons, who needed increased talent on both sides of the ball under new head coach Raheem Morris.Turner eventually turned his combine show-stealing performance into the No. 17 pick of the 2024 draft, when he joined the Minnesota Vikings and Brian Flores’ scheme-heavy defense.Measuring 6ft 2in and 251lb while producing a huge 83-inch wingspan, Turner displayed rare athleticism that could stand out in the pros. While three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes joked that he wished the NFL would stop using his old Combine footage, Turner’s video was joyously recirculated on social media. “Falcons please quit playing and draft him,” one fan tweeted.“He’s been my edge 1 in this class for a while,” a second fan posted.“Yowza, freak’s one word!” a third fan wrote. “But, hey, doesn’t that speed need some wicked moves to match? Wonder if he can dance through a defense as well as he runs!”x@nflFans couldn’t believe how high the former Alabama star defender jumped[/caption]Turner burned the field in the 40GettyGettyHis speed and leaping ability were on full display at the Combine[/caption]Alabama finished 12-2 in 2023, which was good for 99.9 percent of NCAA teams but a down year for the Crimson Tide.Nick Saban’s crew reached the College Football Playoff but fell 27-20 to eventual champion Michigan in an overtime heartbreaker.Saban retired after the defeat. But the “freak” Turner became one of Saban’s final college products to roll into the pros.As a Viking, Turner played in 16 of 17 games last season. The rookie linebacker recorded 20 tackles, three sacks, five quarterback hits and an interception. He’s trying to crack Flores’ starting lineup this season and could be due for a sophomore breakout along with quarterback J.J. McCarthy. All any Vikings fan has to do is cue up Turner’s 2024 combine reel to remember the game-changing talent the former Alabama star still possesses.
