“The Cowboys will never win anything as long as they keep doing the same thing.” It’s a sentiment fans have echoed for years, and once again, the Cowboys proved them right. Another season, another collapse. Despite all the hype, talent, and expectations, the Dallas Cowboys continue to disappoint. Now, as the offseason begins, the big question remains—will they finally make the tough decisions needed to change their fate, or is history doomed to repeat itself?Brian Schottenheimer and the Cowboys face numerous challenges, and solutions are flooding in from everywhere. The boldest of which was shared by Evan Cohen on the UNSPORTSMANLIKE podcast: “It is actually the perfect time to destroy this roster, to break the whole thing up. There’s never been a better time for the Dallas Cowboys to do this.” A shocking suggestion—but does it actually make sense?“It is actually the perfect time to destroy this roster, to break the whole thing up. But after yet another disappointing season, maybe it’s exactly what they need. The problem though? Well, Jones has never been one to rebuild. He believes in his stars and always bets on “next year.” But how many more next years can Cowboys fans take? Sticking with the same core hasn’t worked. Maybe Cohen has a point. Maybe it’s time to stop tweaking and start over. Well, the Cowboys have 40 players signed for 2025 for $263 million, and well revamping that completely would be interesting, to say the least. As interesting as this may sound, though, it seems a tad too aggressive for the Dallas Cowboys, as Stephen Jones has already talked about how they will be “selectively aggressive,” this offseason. Well, just a year after going “all-in,” it’s now time for a new approach at Dallas.“We’re going to be selectively aggressive out here. Obviously, our goals historically have been to try and fill as many of your musts and needs before the draft so you can pick the best player on your board. We didn’t get that totally accomplished last year, but certainly, that’s always the goal.” Well, last season the Cowboys went “all-in” by trading for Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore, hoping to push the team over the top. And the approach clearly didn’t work. Now, the focus has shifted. Jones wants to plug holes before the draft, allowing Dallas to take the best player available. The question is—will this more measured strategy be enough? We will soon find out. For now, the Cowboys seem interested in making a change in the QB position and well, that will be interesting to see.The Dallas Cowboys are getting a new QB?Well, when we talk about the Dallas Cowboys making a change in the QB position; it’s not about Dak Prescott. Prescott is still the guy—for now—the question here is about Trey Lance. Well, ahead of the NFL Combine, Stephen Jones talked about the Cowboy’s QB situation and talked about Lance: “We took a shot at Trey and wanted to do that. We think the world of Trey. But us having Dak signed up for the long-term, I think he’s probably going to looking for something different.” This is interesting, right? Especially because the Cowboys are looking for a QB in the draft.Well, getting a young QB into the system is ‘one of the goals‘ for the Cowboys, and that certainly would mean the end of Lance’s time with the team. The question though is: Do the Cowboys really need a QB? Well, according to Michael Irving, they should, and ideally, look for a “running quarterback.” Well, with the success of Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, ‘running quarterbacks‘ are the talk of the town and it might be good for the Cowboys to go for a quarterback that can run.The Cowboys ideally will not go after a QB in the early rounds; one can only expect them to do that around the fourth round. That means it’s very important for Jones and Co. to identify such a QB, during the NFL Combine. Well, it will be very interesting to see what the Cowboys do going forward. It’s a time for decisions for them: Whether they take the “selective aggression” route or go bold as Cohen suggests, one thing is sure, the Dallas Cowboys really need to shake things up.The post Brian Schottenheimer Advised Strong Measure Against $263 Million Roster as Jerry Jones’ Son Announces Free Agency Plan appeared first on EssentiallySports.
