The 71-year-old assumed the position of President in 2012 after Disney acquired Lucasfilm from founder George Lucas. He stated, “Kathleen Kennedy has informed Disney, as well as friends and associates, that she will exit as Lucasfilm president by the end of the year.”However, there has been no official statement regarding this from Lucasfilm and Kennedy’s representatives. The news follows the release of the teaser trailer of the Star Wars television series Andor Season 2, which is also produced by Lucasfilm.As per Belloni, a source also confirmed, “Kathy (Kathleen) was actually planning to leave last year, I’m told, and had even set up an exit interview with a journalist, but she decided to stay for one more year.”Kathleen Kennedy’s reported departure from Lucasfilm also comes after she was presented with the Board of Governors Award by ASC, also known as the American Society of Cinematographers in December 2024.
