Man sets cars, bike on fire after woman breaks up with him in Bengaluru

The police said Rahul believed the parents and brothers of the woman, a final-year undergraduate student, were behind the strain in the relationship.A man in Bengaluru Sunday allegedly set fire to three cars and a motorbike that belonged to the family members of a woman he was reportedly in a relationship with after she distanced herself from him.According to the Bengaluru police, they are yet to arrest the accused, identified as Rahul, a resident of Hanumanthnagar. The police said Rahul, who worked as a cab driver, faces 18 criminal cases, including those of attempted murder, drug peddling, and robbery.A police officer said two of the cars belonged to the woman’s parents and the motorbike was owned by her brother. They said Rahul and three of his associates went to the woman’s father’s house at around 12.30 am on Sunday, and set a car and motorbike on fire.Later, he went to an apartment in Subramanyapura where the woman lives with her mother. The accused allegedly set her mother’s car on fire in the basement of the apartment, and another vehicle parked next to that car was also gutted.The police said Rahul believed the parents and brothers of the woman, a final-year undergraduate student, were behind the strain in the relationship.The C K Acchukattu and Subramanyapura police have registered three separate cases.
