Cheltenham 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle ante post tips

Wait 5 sec.

All eyes are on Teahupoo to see if he can defend his Stayers’ Hurdle crown. He ran out an impressive winner in this 12 months ago and nothing has really emerged this season to give him too much to worry about. He suffered defeat on his sole start this season at Fairyhouse but that came at the hands of Lossiemouth and freshened up again since it looks all systems go again. My quick picks for the Stayers’ HurdleTeahupoo – evens with Paddy PowerThe Wallpark – 14/1 with Sky BetCheltenham 4.00 Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle – Key stats and trends Age10 of the last 12 winners were aged between 6 and 86 of the last 8 winners were aged 7 Price3 of the last 12 winners were favourites5 of the last 12 winners were in the top 3 in the betting6 of the last 10 winners were priced 10/1 or higher Form9 of the last 12 winners had at least 1 previous win in a Grade 16 of the last 12 winners won on their last run before the Stayers’ Hurdle9 of the last 12 winners ran within the last 80 days6 of the last 12 winners had a previous win at Cheltenham Rating9 of the last 12 winners were rated 154 or higher3 of the last 4 winners were rated 160 or higher Other pointers21 of the last 25 winners finished first or second last time out9 of the last 28 favourites have wonStayers’ Hurdle preview & tipsGordon Elliott is going for a hat-trick in the race and TEAHUPOO is arguably unlucky not to be himself too. After beating Klassical Dream at Fairyhouse he relished the step up in trip to win the Galmoy Hurdle and then was chinned just a nose by stablemate Sire Du Berlais.I remember Davy Russell blaming himself for that defeat and 12 months later the horse had his day in the sun winning impressively under Jack Kennedy. He backed that up winning by a wide margin at Punchestown and while we have only seen him once this season I wouldn’t see that as a negative. His trainer Gordon Elliott has always said he is a horse that needs to be kept fresh and with dangers thin on the ground I expect him to be hard to beat again. Each way angle? It really wouldn’t surprise me to see Gordon Elliott have another 1-2 in the race as THE WALLPARK screams each way value at 12/1. He actually has a very similar profile to his stablemate and looked all about stamina making it 4 wins in a row beating Gowel Road at Cheltenham which obviously looks decent form now with that horse having won the Cleve Hurdle since. He could only finish fourth behind Crambo in the Long Walk Hurdle but ran an eye-catching race getting outpaced before finishing strongly. He is obviously completely unexposed over this trip and freshened up with this race the target I think he’ll give his stablemate the most to think about. My picks:TEAHUPOOTrainer: Gordon ElliottForm: 112-11196-1124-111-2Age: 8Weight: 11-10 Bet on Teahupoo to win the Stayers’ Hurdle at evens with Paddy Power THE WALLPARKTrainer: Gordon ElliottForm: 1062531113-16911114Age: 7Weight: 11-0 Bet on The Wallpark to win the Stayers’ Hurdle at 14/1 with Sky Bet Last 12 winners of the Stayers’ HurdleYearHorseTrainerJockey2013SolwhitCharles ByrnesPaul Carberry2014More Of ThatJonjo O’NeillBarry Geraghty2015Cole HardenWarren GreatrexGavin Sheehan2016ThistlecrackColin TizzardTom Scudamore2017Nichols CanyonWillie MullinsRuby Walsh2018PenhillWillie MullinsPaul Townend2019Paisley ParkEmma LavelleAidan Coleman2020Lisnagar OscarRebecca CurtisAdam Wedge2021Flooring PorterGavin CromwellDanny Mullins2022Flooring PorterGavin CromwellDanny Mullins2023Sire Du BerlaisGordon ElliottMark Walsh2024TeahupooGordon ElliottJack KennedyMore Cheltenham opportunities:Cheltenham 2025 free bets and betting offersCheltenham ante-post tipsCheltenham 2025 CheatsheetAbout the authorJoe NorrisI’m Joe Norris, co-founder and Director of GetYourTipsOut (GYTO), which I launched in 2009 to provide daily sports betting tips, with the main focus on horse racing.
