US President Donald Trump just dropped a wild, AI-generated promo video showcasing his vision of Gaza as a luxury waterfront destination. Picture this: a giant golden Trump statue, the US President sipping cocktails alongside a shirtless Israeli President Netanyahu and dancing with a belly dancer. There’s also billionaire Elon Musk in the mix, who is seen indulging in delicacies and raining down money ostensibly on the children of Gaza. Its jingle, “Trump Gaza is number one”, is just as bizarre. With its deeply offensive political undertones, the reel drew sharp criticism from Palestinians. They had earlier rejected Trump’s plans to turn Gaza into a “Riviera of the Middle East” after displacing its current inhabitants. Hamas’ media wing has called the video “distasteful”.On that note, let’s get to today’s edition.🚨 Big StoryAn approaching delimitation exercise that could redraw the boundaries of electoral constituencies has caused much anxiety in southern states of India. To be clear, delimitation is a Constitutionally mandated process conducted after every Census to ensure parliamentary seats align with the latest population data.Quick recap: The last time, the government carried out delimitation was in 2001, when boundaries were adjusted. The allocation of Lok Sabha seats to states and the composition of state Assemblies, however, remained untouched—largely due to opposition from southern states.‘Hanging sword’: The next round of delimitation was scheduled for 2026, though the new Census has been much delayed. States like Kerala and Tamil Nadu are concerned that they may lose political clout under the new alignment. This exercise could also tip the scales in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). How? It has all to do with the disparate population growth rates of the northern and southern states.Rest assured: The Centre sought to placate these concerns, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah stating that “not a single seat will be reduced in any southern state.” Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has called for an all-party meeting on March 5 to address the issue.Story continues below this ad⚡ Only in ExpressThe Kiwi challenge: With their semi-final spot confirmed in the Champions Trophy, India’s third match against New Zealand may not be a must-win fixture, but it will no doubt be the first stiff challenge they face. Our man on the ground in Dubai, Venkata Krishna B, witnessed all the action yesterday at the training nets, where the team returned after a well-deserved two-day break. On Sunday, India crushed Pakistan, effectively throwing the co-hosts out of the tournament. To gear up for the Black Caps challenge, the Team has been focusing on countering tweakers. Skipper Rohit Sharma conspicuously remained away from the nets. He was seen struggling with his hamstring in the Sunday outing and could be rested for the New Zealand game.📰 From the Front PageData speaks: As many as 32 countries and 36 agents and their aides find mention in the 19 FIRs registered by the Punjab Police based on information given by 131 US-returned deportees. Migrants, hoping to secure entry into the US, have paid an estimated Rs 44.70 crore to these agents that send them on illegal “dunki” routes across the globe.Tense: A town in Rajasthan’s Beawar is on edge after members of the Hindu community accused Muslim youths of sexually exploiting their daughters. The communal tension has kept students from both communities out of schools. While families of the girls have alleged a larger “racket”, the accused have called it a “political conspiracy”. The issue has led to rallies in Beawar and neighbouring districts.‘Unfair’: As India talks trade with the European Union, it is set to flag the controversial carbon tax. The EU will impose high tariffs, going up to 30 per cent, on imports of carbon-intensive products such as steel and aluminium from next year.Story continues below this ad📌 Must ReadTax no more: It might just be easier to book an auto-rickshaw on the ride-hailing app Uber. It has joined its competitors in removing the 5 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST) on three-wheeler rides as it shifts from a commission-based model to a subscription model for auto drivers.Money over merit? There’s a new price to American citizenship: $5 million. Trump says he plans to introduce a “gold card” that would give the owner permanent residency in the US, and pave the way for eventual citizenship. Unlike its predecessor, the EB-5 program, the gold card would not require investors to actually invest or create jobs and could be obtained on a flat fee basis.⌛ And Finally…India’s largest airport is due for an upgrade. The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) plans to spruce up Terminal 2, starting in April. This means T2 will be shut for operations for four to five months, shifting flights to the expanded Terminal 1. It’s also planning to enhance Terminal 3’s capacity with an upgrade for one of the piers. Meanwhile, the DIAL is also expected to ramp up tariffs, which could result in higher airfares. Before you go, don’t forget to tune in to the latest episode of the ‘3 Things’ podcast.
