SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Hyderabad, on Saturday said it will form a committee to investigate into the food poisoning incident that affected several students at its Jadcherla campus on Thursday (February 20).Addressing media persons at Jadcherla campus on Saturday, Pro Vice Chancellors Meena Chintamaneni and Abhishek Ranjan reiterating the clarification it published on its website, said the doctors confirmed it to be a “mild food-related illness.”“NMIMS confirms that 29 students were admitted to the hospital for observation after experiencing mild symptoms of food-related illness. Half of the students were discharged in the morning of 21st February, while the remaining students were discharged today,” it said in a release.‘27 students affected from one discipline’According to them, NMIMS will investigate the incident in depth as 27 students from one discipline were affected.On the delay in shifting the victim students to a medical facility, the officials said “even before the internal administration could take necessary action, local individuals were made aware of the incident and the matter was widely circulated.”A committee will be formed to thoroughly examine the sequence of events and ensure a comprehensive review of the situation.Further, assuring that health and safety of the students was a priority, the officials said that the administration was updating parents about the situation to ensure transparency.
