Chris Eubank Jr claims Eddie Hearn tried to insert a clause preventing him from ‘saying anything negative about promoters’.Although this was swiftly denied by the Matchroom CEO in what was a fiery press conference in London on Thursday ahead of Eubank Jr’s grudge match with Conor Benn.GettyEuban Jr claims Hearn tried to insert a clause in his contract to stop him from bad-mouthing him[/caption]Eubank Jr said: “If you guys want to hear something really funny, this worm (Hearn) tried to put in my fight contract that I couldn’t say anything negative about promoters during this press conference.“This guy has built his entire career about talking s*** about people and he’s going to insert a clause that I can’t say anything bad about him.“That is who we are dealing with.”Hearn, who has been at odds with Eubank Jr throughout the build-up to ‘Next Gen’s’ April 26 clash with Benn, scoffed at the claim, saying: “Absolutely not, you are getting sued by other promoters, not me. “You have got that well wrong. That is another thing you have got wrong alongside dressing yourself this morning.”Eubank Jr was sued by Queensberry’s Frank Warren after labelling him and several other promoters ‘scumbags’ at the Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev press conference last year ahead of his undercard bout with Kamil Szeremeta. It marked his first fight under the BOXXER promotional banner following his split from Wasserman Boxing.Explaining why he chose to sign with BOXXER, Eubank Jr said: “Why BOXXER? Because every other promoter out here is a scumbag.“We’ve got Frank Warren behind me, he has been lying and cheating his way through boxing for the last couple of decades. “He [Warren] sued me for a couple of hundred thousand a few years ago so obviously I’d never go with him. Scumbag.Eubank Jr scoffed at suggestions of such a clauseGetty“Kalle Sauerland kept me in a terrible contract for several years. Scumbag.“Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith tried everything they could to make this Connor Benn fight [in October 2022 after Benn tested positive for a performance enhancing substance].“So yes, scumbags. The only one who isn’t is Turki Alalshikh [Saudi boxing chief].“This is a man who isn’t trying to take money for fighters, and use lawyers and accountants in slave contracts.”Warren then came onto talkSPORT to declare that he was seeking legal action against Eubank Jr for defamation.“The bottom line of it is very simple. He was sued by me for a legal breach of a contract and I was successful in suing him and he paid substantial damages,” said Warren.GettyEubank Jr will meet Benn in the ring on April 26[/caption]“Now you know what he can’t accept is what’s legal and what’s not. And as regarding what he’s just said, just so you know I’m gonna keep it short and sweet.“He’s gonna get sued again for the comments that he’s made publicly.“He will be sued and he will have a problem over that and anybody else who says it, they can get in that queue.”Warren filed the legal proceedings shortly after and received a public apology from Eubank Jr days later.Follow talkBOXING on social mediatalkBOXING is now on Twitter and Facebook.Follow us on social media for big breaking boxing news, exclusive interviews and the best bits from our talkBOXING YouTube show.Like our Facebook page HEREFollow us on Twitter HERESign up for our WhatsApp channel HERE
