Today we remember actor Gene Hackman, who has passed away at the age of 95. Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found deceased in their home in Santa Fe, Arizona, along with their dog. He left home at the age of 16 to join the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a field radio operator.Over the course of his long career, Hackman was nominated five times for an Academy Award, winning twice. In 2004, Hackman chose to step back from acting and focus on his work as a writer. He co-authored three historical fiction novels in collaboration with undersea archaeologist Daniel Lenihan.
