HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK• During this reporting period, inflow movements (75,149) were 41 per cent larger than outflow movements (53,138). Compared to last week, this week’s inflow movements increased by almost five per cent.• Islam Qala in Herat province bordering the Islamic Republic of Iran was the most active border point, accounting for 39 per cent of total cross-border movements. Movements at Islam Qala were dominated by inflows; the ratio of inflows to outflows was 103%.• The ratio of outflows to inflows was highest at the Spin Boldak border crossing point (bordering Pakistan), where outflows were over 14% larger than inflows. According to survey results, the primary reason for outflows at the Spin Boldak border crossing point was health reasons (91%), followed by family-related reasons (53%), and traveling to country of residence (15%).• Nearly 99 per cent of the respondents going to the Islamic Republic of Iran, whether using the main or other crossing points, have valid passports and visas. Additionally, majority of the people traveling through both main and other crossing points intend to stay in the Islamic Republic of Iran for more than three months to a year.• The most common destination provinces among respondents coming from the Islamic Republic of Iran included Herat and Farah provinces. On the other hand, Kandahar and Paktika provinces were the most common destination provinces for those entering from Pakistan. Kabul is a common destination for those coming from both neighboring countries.
