Komal Mittal takes charge as Mohali DC, lists campaign against drugs abuse as priority

(Express Photo)Komal Mittal, a 2014-batch IAS officer, on Tuesday assumed office as Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Mohali. Mittal replaced Aashika Jain, a 2015-batch IAS officer, who has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur.Mittal, who had earlier headed Hoshiarpur as Deputy Commissioner before joining Mohali, had also been Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development). She had Additional Secretary, Food and Civil supplies Punjab, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar and SDM Mukerian.Listing her priorities, she said that it would be her primacy to implement the flagship programmes of the Punjab government in the district besides spearheading a campaign against drug abuse.The DC said that transparency in governance to continue the fight against corruption as per the commitment of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and timely delivery of citizen centric services would also be ensured to minimise the public grievances.Mittal said that keeping in view the growing urbanisation in the district, particularly in Mohali, planned development would be ensured, and action should be taken against illegal constructions and encroachments.The DC said that to safeguard the interests of district residents against the illegal immigration, soon a meeting will be held with travel agents and the people would be made aware about the registered travel agents working in the district.New MC Commissioner also joinsParminder Pal Singh, a 2016-batch IAS officer, also joined as the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation.
