Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their clash against Manchester City this week as Cristian Romero returns to training. While the Argentine seems unlikely to be fit enough to take part on Wednesday, he is at least back out on the Hotspur Way turf. For huge parts of this season, Tottenham Hotspur have been dealing with an injury crisis that sidelined over eleven first-team players.Indeed, in recent weeks, a few of Postecoglou’s injured stars have made a return, with the likes of James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie all joining in with the first-team squad. However, despite a few returning to full fitness, the likes of Micky van de Ven, Dominic Solanke, Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin remain sidelined for Tottenham.(Credit @thefrederikkejensen / Instagram)Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero returns to trainingAhead of the clash against Manchester City in the Premier League, recent images from Shutterstock have now revealed Cristian Romero, training with the first-team squad.Romero has not been seen on the pitch for Tottenham since his 15-minute cameo against Chelsea on December 8 when he picked up yet another fresh injury.Cristian Romero pictured in Tottenham first team training today 🇦🇷 https://t.co/IySZqH4PXD— The Spurs Web (@thespursweb) February 24, 2025 The Argentine centre-back, who has been out since December last year because of injuries, was not expected to make a return this week, according to his manager. Postecoglou says Romero could return to competitive action in the next two to three weeks. The Tottenham boss said: “No new concerns from last week and the other guys are ticking along well. Got two games in quick succession in the league.“Good opportunity to get some minutes for players. Hoping Romero and Micky back around [the Europa League first leg] and Dom and Richy not far behind.”Asked to elaborate on the schedule Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven are working to, Ange added: “It’s going well for him [Romero] and he’s in a good place. I’m really keen to pick the right moment with him and Micky to make sure we’ve got them for the rest of the season.”Of course, this is not the first time Romero has been spotted back in training since his injury. The Argentine returned to on-field work in late January before mysteriously vanishing again shortly after. Tottenham fans will be hoping this particular return is a little more permanent.Cristian Romero’s injury record this seasonWhile Romero’s return to Tottenham training is a good sight for Spurs fans, his return to the actual playing field might take a little longer. The defender’s injury problems this season have been persistent, as he has suffered an ankle, a toe and a hamstring injury this campaign.SeasonInjuryFromMatches Missed24/25Hamstring injuryDec 8, 20242324/25Toe injuryNov 22, 2024424/25Ankle injuryNov 3, 20242stats from transfermarktAs Ange Postecoglou already eluded to, picking the right moment to get the Argentine back into the team would be vital for the club as they look to push for a Europa League triumph. The post Tottenham star finally spotted back in training 78 days after his injury appeared first on Spurs Web.
