(Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic)James Gunn and Peter Safran have clarified some of the goals for the DCU for the years to come. The DCU officially kicked off this past December with Creature Commandos, which is now streaming on Max. The second project officially set within this new DC universe created by Gunn and Safran will be the David Corenswet-starring Superman, which arrives this December.Beyond that, Peacemaker Season 2 is expected to arrive later in 2025, while Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been dated for 2026. The Lanterns series with Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre is also expected to arrive in 2026.Per Variety, Safran has said that DC Studios is looking to release two live-action movies and one animated movie every year. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they all have to be set within the DCU as, for example, The Batman Part II takes place in the world of Matt Reeves’ The Batman Epic Crime Saga and currently has a 2027 release date.Safran also said that they’re looking to release two live-action and two animated television series every year.“But the executives also reiterated the overall philosophy guiding their creative choices — namely, that no project will get a greenlight until Gunn and Safran are satisfied with a completed screenplay,” Variety’s article notes.James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU is working its way up to something bigGunn and Safran also noted that they do have an ultimate six-year plan for the DCU that will tell a “wider story” in a “culminating project” similar to one of Marvel’s Avengers movies. The Hollywood Reporter‘s article specifically compares the “six-year plan” to Avengers: Endgame. They didn’t elaborate further or hint at what kind of event the DCU may be building to (though a Justice League project seems like the obvious answer); rather, Gunn noted that “each individual project works as its own thing.”“It isn’t like they’re chapters of an overall story,” he said. “They’re characters that are part of an overall story.”Originally reported by Brandon Schreur on SuperHeroHype. The post DCU Movie & TV Output Outlined, James Gunn Reveals ‘Endgame’ Movie appeared first on ComingSoon.net - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More.
