A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly firing during a wedding procession and injuring two persons, in Greater Noida’s Surajpur on Sunday, said police.This is the second such incident in a week in Gautam Buddh Nagar. On February 16, a toddler was killed during celebratory fire while watching a wedding procession from his fourth-floor balcony along with his father. Two men were arrested in the case.Following these incidents within a fortnight, Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissioner Laxmi Singh and DCP (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy have ordered necessary guidelines to be followed.“Police have given notices to all operators and owners of all commercial establishments… (that) general entry with weapons is completely prohibited during the programme (weddings and functions). In case of weapon display and celebratory firing, legal action will be taken by fixing responsibility of the owner and operator of the establishment along with the weapon holder,” said Avasthy.“Consumption of liquor without permission or licence is prohibited. Guests should not drive any vehicle after consuming liquor and must follow traffic rules. CCTV cameras must be installed with recording capacity so that in case of any objectionable incident, action can be taken to collect evidence. Ensure compliance with instructions given by the Hon’ble Supreme Court regarding the use of DJ/loudspeaker,” Avasthy added.According to police, the latest incident occurred on Sunday night at Ashirwad Marriage Home in Sakipur village. “During the celebratory fire, two confectioners — Santosh (35) and Ishwar Dayal (23) — were critically injured,” said police in a statement.“They were taken to the hospital and an FIR was registered under BNS section 109 (attempted murder) against the accused,” said police.Story continues below this adThe accused, Shivam, was arrested on Monday. “We also recovered two cartridges from the accused.
