Four workers electrocuted at ‘goshala’ in Guntur

 Four workers lost their lives after being electrocuted while clearing a septic tank, at the Sri Kali Vanashrama Goshala in Pedakakani village near Guntur city on Monday.Guntur Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar visited the site of the accident, and reviewed the situation.Speaking to the media, Mr. Satish Kumar termed the incident an unfortunate mishap and stated that the Goshala housed around 70 cows, and waste, including cow urine and dung, was regularly collected in the septic tank for disposal. The workers were engaged in the routine removal of this waste using a motor pump when tragedy struck.According to preliminary reports, a live wire accidentally fell into the water inside the septic tank while the workers were at the site. One worker was electrocuted, and in an attempt to save him, three others rushed in, resulting in all four losing their lives. The deceased were identified as M. Kali Baba, Yatagiri Balaiah, M. Mahankala Rao, and Y. Rajesh.The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Guntur Government Hospital for post-mortem examination, and further investigations are under way.The SP urged residents and workers to adhere to strict safety protocols at homes and workplaces to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.Published - February 25, 2025 08:16 am IST
