Adani Green Energy Ltd. announced on Tuesday that it received a letter of award from Uttar Pradesh Power Corp. for a 1,250-megawatt energy storage capacity from pumped hydro-storage projects. The project, named Panaura PSP, comes with a minimum 40-year commitment and will be situated in Sonbhadra district. It is anticipated to be completed within the next six years, according to a press release on Tuesday.Adani Green has plans to expand its hydro-pumped-storage project capacity by over five gigawatts by 2030. The company has already begun constructing hydro PSP projects with capacities of 500 MW at Chitravathi river in Andhra Pradesh, 1,500 MW at Tarali in Maharashtra, and 1,800 MW at Gandikota in Andhra Pradesh, the release said.Hydro PSP is recognised as a cost-effective, mature and scalable technology with significant potential. During the day, these projects use solar-generated electrons to pump water, which then meets peak energy demand at night through sustainable sources. Besides being time-tested and locally available, the PSPs are the cleanest and safest technology for energy storage. They offer various benefits such as grid stability, peak shaving and flexible energy management.Hydro PSPs provide frequency regulation and reserve generation, making them an essential part of a robust and resilient energy infrastructure.Adani Green Energy Q3 Results: Profit Rises 85% .
