Samsung has launched the 9100 Pro M.2 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, featuring read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400MB/s, and capacity of up to 8TB.It is now the brand’s flagship storage drive for PCs, succeeding the previous flagship model, the 990 Pro, which it launched almost three years ago, in 2022.For now, Samsung has launched the 9100 Pro only in India. The company is offering it in two variants. One with a heatsink and one without it. The tech giant has made both of them available in three storage options: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. By the end of 2025, we will also get to see an 8TB version. Below are their prices.Samsung has priced the 1TB model at INR 14,999 ($172), 2TB model at 25,499 ($292), and 4TB model at INR 49,999 ($573). However, the brand hasn’t specified if these prices are for the variant with heatsink or the one without it. Considering these prices, the 8TB version could set you back by INR 99,999 ($1,147).Samsung 9100 Pro SSD specificationsThe Samsung 9100 Pro SSD has sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s respectively. That makes it an astonishing, 99% faster at reading and 94% faster at writing compared to its predecessor, the 990 Pro, which has read and write speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s respectively.According to the company, it has random read and write speeds of up to 22,00,000 IOPS and 26,00,000 IOPS respectively. In comparison, the 990 Pro has random read and write speed of up to 12,00,000 IOPS and 15,50,000 IOPS. Samsung also says that the new drive consumes up to 49% less power than the older model.With these speeds and prices, the Samsung 9100 Pro is now among the best SSDs on the market. Unfortunately, there’s still no information about when Samsung will launch it in other regions.
