Death of IRS officer and kin: preliminary conclusion points to suicide

The Thrikkakara police have reached an initial conclusion that the three found dead in the Central Excise and Customs Quarters, Eechamukku, Kakkanad, last Thursday (February 20) had died by suicide.This was based on the autopsy of the three bodies carried out at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery, on Saturday (February 22). Maneesh Vijay, 44, of Ranchi in Jharkhand who served as an Additional Commissioner, GST, with Central Excise and Customs, his sister Shalini, and mother Shakuntala, were found dead inside their quarters.“This is just a preliminary conclusion. We are still going ahead with the probe, including the reason behind the suspected suicide,” said a senior police officer.Maneesh was on leave for a week and was supposed to report back for duty on Thursday.
