(Express File Photo)Reacting to Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu’s recent attempt to meet him at his official residence in Chandigarh, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Saturday said people will not let Bittu enter that house again.During a visit to Sangrur district, Mann said, “Bittu keeps coming… sometimes to the back gate or the front gate (of the Punjab CM house). But I want to tell him… people will not let him enter that house again… It is not my house but that of 2.5 to 3 crore Punjabis. People’s verdict allows one to enter that house.”It needs to be mentioned that Bittu’s grandfather Beant Singh became the chief minister of Punjab in 1992 and was assassinated on August 31, 1995. During his grandfather’s tenure as chief minister, Bittu had stayed in the CM house.Bittu went to the Punjab chief minister’s house on Wednesday apparently to discuss a few FIRs lodged against BJP workers in Ludhiana. However, he had no permission to meet the chief minister and his security had a heated argument with the Chandigarh Police after they were stopped from entering Mann’s residence. Videos of that altercation have gone viral on social media.Referring to the cases, Mann Saturday said, “The law will take its course. If there are some cases against someone regarding extortion or fraud, we don’t see which party that person belongs to but take action as per law.”On Wednesday, attacking the Punjab CM, Bittu said, “In the past 10 days, I have tried three times to get an appointment to meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Through the media as well, I have repeatedly requested a meeting with the chief minister. However… the CM did not have the courage to speak with me, and I was not given an appointment. Therefore, I went alone to the chief minister’s residence in Chandigarh and sent Bhagwant Mann a message: ‘If you had the courage to act unfairly towards my workers, then now have the courage to talk to me as well.’“But this chief minister is a coward who has abandoned Punjab and Punjabis – he remained hidden inside his house and ran away from speaking with me.”© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:Bhagwant MannPunjab Chief Minister
