De’Vondre Campbell has launched a foul-mouthed rant at fans who accused him of ‘walking out’ on the San Francisco 49ers.The NFL linebacker signed a one-year contract worth $5million with franchise last March, and went on to start 12 of San Francisco‘s first 13 games in 2024, filling in for the injured Dre Greenlaw. The 49ers claimed Campbell refused to play in the third quarter of their game against the RamsAPWhen Greenlaw returned for the Week 15 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Campbell was relegated to a reserve role and did not play in the first half.He was instead asked to enter the game in the third quarter, but refused to play and left for the locker room as the 49ers lost 12-6.Campbell was seen walking off the field with a towel draped over his head and afterwards, head coach Kyle Shanahan said he didn’t know why the linebacker left the sideline before the game concluded.“‘Once I found out he wasn’t playing, I moved on to people we could count on,” Shanahan said at the time. The Niners then suspended Campbell for their final three games, rather than releasing him, meaning he was unable to join another team heading into the playoffs.“His actions from the game are not something you can do to your team or teammates and still expect to be a part of our team,” Shanahan added, speaking as the 49ers suspended the 31-year-old.More than two months on, Campbell has taken to X to share his own side of the story. But instead of discussing the situation, he shared some foul words for those who disapprove of his actions.“Listen, I’m sick of all you b**** a** (expletive) jumping under my tweets. It’s been two months and I have yet to address the situation ’cause I know the truth and don’t care to clear anything up,” Campbell wrote on Friday, February 21.“I’m by myself ALL the time, if you or any of them (expletive) from the 49ers feel some type of way, go wit ya move when you see me cause all them that had so much to say about me gone have to stand on them words next time I see them.Campbell ranted at fans in a foul-mouthed thread on XGetty“I been standing on business my whole life and it’s going to be like that until the day I’m 6ft under.”Campbell went on to send a message to those in the media who addressed his actions, suggesting they didn’t reach out to him for his side of the story.“That goes for all them old ass retired (expletive) that jumped on TV speaking on my name when they could’ve reached out to me and heard it from the horses mouth,” he continued.“But they just took what the 49ers said and ran with it… f*** all of y’all.”Campbell then concluded his rant by hitting out at ‘trolls’ once more.He wrote: “I ain’t addressing s***. I’m rich and never have to work another day of my life… I play because I want to.Campbell said he was sick of fans talking about him, and that he doesn’t need to play in the NFL againGetty“They get mad when they can’t successfully troll you. I’m a real (expletive), you can’t get under my skin my life is great.“I get on here say whatever I want then I log off and go on with my day while y’all sit here mad.”With his foul-mouthed rant, Campbell made it clear that he doesn’t need to return to the 49ers, or the NFL, next season. He has already played nine years in the league, arriving as a fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft for the Atlanta Falcons.Campbell has bounced around, playing for four different teams and was most notably a First-Team All-Pro selection in 2021 with the Green Bay Packers.Jason Bell, a former NFL cornerback, discussed Campbell’s future after his Week 15 behavior. Former NFL star Jason Bell suggested that Campbell will have a ‘black mark’ after his behaviorGetty“I get that he was a starter, and had to sit down when somebody else came in,” Bell said. “He might have been frustrated, but you can’t do that. Once you do, you have a black mark on your career. “Wherever else you go, you’re going to be defined by that.”
